Is it necessary for me to have a scientific background to take the GAMSAT?
No. While having a scientific background may help you tackle part 3, it is not required. Sections 1 and 2 may be simpler if you have a humanities background. A-level standard is an acceptable benchmark for the scientific disciplines tested, which are physics, biology and chemistry. Don’t worry if you haven’t taken any science A levels; simply start studying early. There are many resources available to assist you.
What degree of knowledge is required?
This is a contentious subject! It is believed that a first-year university level in biology and chemistry is required and an A-level grade in physics.

What resources should I use?
There are so many resources accessible online that choosing which ones to use won’t be difficult. There are several free practice tests available for sections 1 and 3. Is it true that I’ll require standard maths at A level?
There’s a misconception that sophisticated arithmetic is necessary for the GAMSAT, but the fact is that not being able to use a calculator is the most difficult aspect. You’ll need to brush up on fundamental mental arithmetic concepts like addition and subtracting fractions. Section 3 also includes logs and exponents, so familiarise yourself with their principles. As you practice questions, you’ll acquire mental arithmetic skills like rounding up and down.
What is the maximum number of times you may take the GAMSAT?
If you don’t pass the GAMSAT test the first time, you may retake it without penalty. The number of times the exam may be taken in the following years is unrestricted.
